Xiaomi Announces Tata Investments in the company

Xiaomi’s President Hugo Barra announced that they have been in talks with Tata Group of companies and now finally the deal is on, as the Chairman of Tata Emeritus Mr. Ratan Tata has now finally signed the papers of investment.

The exact amount of investment and the stake of the investors in the company is not clear at the moment but both the company and its president has come up with official announcement of the deal.

Mi India Official – The official Facebook page said “We are happy to announce that Mr. Ratan Tata, chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, has made an investment in Xiaomi. This is the first investment by any Indian in Xiaomi.

Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, is happy to say: “Mr. Tata is one of the most well-respected business leaders in the world. An investment by him is an affirmation of the strategy we have undertaken in India so far. This is just the start of an exciting journey, and we are looking forward to bringing more products into India.”

Hugo said in a Facebook post, “We’re really excited to announce our newest Xiaomi investor — Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.

We’re incredibly honored by this extraordinary vote of confidence. Mr. Tata is very excited about Xiaomi and our plans for India, and we’re really looking forward to working with him as an investor and advisor to build Mi India as a truly Indian company!”
