Microsoft announces Cortana for iOS and Android

After a series of speculations and rumors, Microsoft announced its plans to unveil Cortana voice/virtual assistant for android and iOS devices.

To people who don’t know what cortana is, it is a virtual assistant just like Google Now.

The company said the app would be able to do and reciprocate everything the Windows Phone and PC app does, it raised some eyebrows over the fact that android does not gives extra functionality permissions to third party apps that does not comes in-built- like Google Now, which comes in-built and has exclusive permissions right from the android code- might be because Google uses its control on android code as a authority to gain exclusive permissions for its apps.

Cortana for Android and iOS have the same functionality as on Windows Phone and Windows PC

But Cortana would not have that, you cannot wake the device yelling “Hey Cortana” which sounds rather amazing. In an official statement Microsoft said that they were skeptical that in order to make the app a real success, they must let it on open grounds and let it compete with Google Now and iOS and for that they had to make it Cross-Platform.

The official Cortana release is scheduled for late-june release, we will have to wait for the time to see what it brings for us. Let us know if you have any questions, or comments on the subject. Use the comment box below. Until next time, keep Androtrending!
