You must be thinking what new is this? Samsung and HTC has already manufactured smartphone that uses fingerprint recognition on android ecosystem, right? Let me tell you, this news is big and new too. To start you off, Android does not ‘natively’ supports Fingerprint and Biometric Recognition, did you see the word ‘natively’ I used in the above line? This means that if some manufacturer is trying to make a smartphone with fingerprint recognition then they have to use their own code, conduct their own R&D to establish an important relationship between the Recognition hardware and Android Code.
And not all Companies can afford to set up their own R&D just for the sake of one feature, so they put this stuff out of their smartphone and focus on making other things better and this thing here, leads to FRAGMENTATION and Google is doing what it can to make this problem irrelevant so starting from now, Google will include Fingerprint support in their Android M code that will help Manufacturers and developers to make better smartphones as well as better apps that can use the functionality.
Really small scale manufacturers will be able to create better smartphones including biometric recognition, by just using the code and tuning in a Fingerprint hardware from a 3rd party. Developers will be able to use the functionality in their apps too, you may have a smartphone that uses 3rd party locker and you might have noticed that they don’t support fingerprint recognition even though your smartphone may have one. This thing will ensure that they also get the code and API for the supportWhat will this Mean?
So guys this was all about the Fingerprint support on Android M, Let us know if you like the inclusion and if you have any questions feel free to use our Comment section below. Until next time, Keep Androtrending!
