Call 1925 : Easily Activate or Deactivate Mobile Internet in India

There have been times I was charged of mobile internet without even using it, and believe me, it has happened with many people I know. Operators have a sneaky practise of activating or deactivating a service without consent to gather more revenue.

A cousin used to work for a operator in my city and he confirmed me one day, he said that it was a regular practise and every person once in a while has fallen victim to their corrupt activities. Yes, if you call them on their costumer care and tell them about it, you’ll get a refund and an apology but how many people really notice it? That’s a tough question.

So, the point here is, that yes they do these sneaky stuffs, and government was quite about it, but not now. Indian Government has made strong plans to regulate these practises and what we have here is a unified number for Internet service activation or deactivation, that will be mandatory for each and every operator to implement.

Official Statement :

No service provider shall activate or deactivate the data service on the Cellular Mobile Telephone connection of a consumer without his explicit consent,” was the official statement we received.

From When?

Should I call them for retaining my mobile internet?

Starting from 1 September, you can either call or message on 1925 with a request to start or stop the service. No, existing costumers need not call/sms if they wish to retain their services but however, if you want to deactivate it, call and make a request. From our perspective it’s a good initiative, which will pave its way for more stronger regulations on Operators (carriers).
