Official : Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus

Samsung has officially announced their phablet offering along with an upgrade to S6 Edge, devices are just as we told you our rumour roundup, and they are absolutely gorgeous. Both of them feature big gorgeous displays with extremely high pixel count. Catching up on the performance front, they both can single handedly beat any flagship smartphone right now, thanks to Samsung’s own in-house offering, the Exynos 7420.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

 Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is all about strength with a big 5.7 inch display with QHD 2560 x 1440 px resolution which will pavé the way to breathtaking crispness and clarity above all standards. Camera is not so upgraded feature altogether when we look at the numbers but incorporating lots of under-the-hood changes, 16MP rear unit features Optical Image Stabilisation and Phase Detection, capable of 4K video recording with Ultra-Slow Motion. Front camera is a 5MP unit with 1.9 f aperture similar to that of the Galaxy S6.

Powered by a 3000mAh non-removable battery, the device has 32/64GB internals and no MicroSD card support, there I said it– No way to expand storage and non-removable battery.

From what I have heard in the past 10 minutes or so, from people who have already posted first impressions with Galaxy Note 5, the device seems to be an upscaled version of the Galaxy S6 and if you take a look at them from across the room, you can’t tell the difference. Same design, gorgeous dominating display and metal frame.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

Samsung galaxy S6 Edge

This device from the looks of it, seems a bigger brother to S6 Edge, and that is what it is and is aimed for. Dual curved 5.7inch  SuperAMOLED display with QHD resolution creating a total of 518pixels-per-inch density. Smartphone features similar SoC with an octa-core Exynos 7420 (2.1GHz quadcore and  1.5GHz quadcore), a 4GB LPDDR4 RAM housing, with the same image sensor as on Note 5 that gives rear pixel count as 16MP and the front at 5MP, both of which have 1.9f aperture.

Same story on Internals, MicroSD support and Battery– 32/64GB options, no SD card support and a 3000mAh battery (non-removeable).

Our Take

Samsung is a big brand, bigger than most of its competitors right now but it seems to be missing the point here, it’s not just about bigger and better looking devices, not just about devices that can top the antutu benchmarks–it’s more about freedom and customization, and removing MicroSD cards and adding non-removable batteries take that away in a brutal yet subtle way. I might be beating the dead horse here, but the fact that people get disappointed with these little flaws is going to hurt samsung in the long run.

Removing MicroSD cards and removable batteries take a significant part of the consumer freedom that’s left.

Keeping SD card and battery aside, devices are all that we can hope for today, gorgeous displays, excellent design and the most important-power that is capable to dominate the entire android ecosystem (if you crave for bigger displays).

We have lots of articles lined up for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung GAlaxy S6 Edge, but this all for the first impressions. Keep Androtrending!
