The leading MicroBlogging site removed user’s custom background images from the site, replacing them with a static white background, while this can mean just uniformity in action, it can also mean a lot more than that- a possible first step for an ad push.
Twitter spokesperson confirmed that the company has removed background images for all people rather for just some, which reflects a site wide change. Tech2 and TechCrunch reported that the company by this move is attempting a yet another to try gain more control over Ad Ecosystem, people should’nt surprised if their background turns out to show some ads in the future.
While a mild outrage against the move was witnessed when people found out their custom images replaced by a static, white background. This was what some them had to say:
I’m sorry twitter, but can I have my background back and stay back please?
