Cyanogen – Microsoft Deal : Why Sudden Love For Android ?

Some of us already know that Cyanogen has signed a deal with Microsoft which aims at distributing its new software and OTA’s with Microsoft bundled apps.

This is Microsoft and it will whatever it can to penetrate deep into android to generate more revenue, and by looking so far it has been successful. From its Next Lockscreen it has managed to replace existing android lockscreen’s in some people’s smartphones and through Bing, Office, Skype, One Drive, Outlook  it aims to further penetrate.

Microsoft has more than 46 apps in the Google play store and they are trying to make it stronger rather than focusing on its on Windows Marketplace. Why is that? Because on a deeper level the company knows that Android is Open Source and there is very little restriction from Google on who can enter the ecosystem and who cannot.

There are 46 Microsoft Apps in the Google Play Store.

With Cyanogen deal, Microsoft will get integration into the complete android OS- Bing as the default Search Engine, Office as the Document Viewer and Editor, Outlook as the Email Client and many other this kind of changes are what they are calling integration.

Why are Manufacturers Agreeing to it?

Cyanogen is not the only one that is doing the Microsoft thing in the market, Samsung the world’s largest android manufacturer and seller has also done the same thing with the beautiful Samsung Galaxy S6 – it has tech giant’s services right built into android and further goes on with a separate folder called “Microsoft Apps”. Dell will also join the league of manufacturers that are backing Microsoft by preinstalling its services in their android offerings. It will offer Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, and Skype preinstalled on all its offering after it has secured a deal with Microsoft. Sony has not made up its mind yet but we are getting reports that the Microsoft is in talks with the company and the decision is pending from Sony. Anyways we’ll get to know it in some days.

Samsung, Dell and now Cyanogen – Microsoft must be offering huge discounts on royalties, upon preinstalling it’s services.

Microsoft earns a lot from royalties from these manufacturers and these deals are result of royalties, by installing some apps and services  manufacturers are finally seeing a decrease in the amount of the royalties and this is making them happy. Why it shouldn’t? They are making more money and money is the primary concern for businesses these days.

Why is Microsoft doing this?

WHY? To substitute Google Services. When we use Google for searching something- it learns from our searches and our behavior, from the places we visit, from the people we meet and so much more that this would go onto be an endless list. Then comes using this data to sell ads- to provide you with tailored ads that you are more probable to click and therefore earning more revenue. That is why Microsoft is here- for Revenue.

Have you ever came across a product that you saw on amazon that you liked really but did not buy? Have you seen its ads all over the internet from then? That is what Google does, it learns and now Microsoft is here. Slowly Microsoft will grow-as fungi grows on bread until it destroys it completely. Slowly there will be deeper penetration of these new services- many Googleish or new services type, proposing to use Android as its profit making playground.
