Photography on Android phones has never been this competitive — or this confusing. You’ve got Samsung spending billions on sensors, Google obsessing over AI processing, and Xiaomi shipping hardware specs that would’ve been unthinkable three years ago. But not every great spec sheet translates to great photos.

I’ve been testing Android phones seriously since the Galaxy S3 era. Here’s the honest breakdown of where things stand in 2026.

Which Android Phone Takes the Best Photos in 2026?

The short answer: the Google Pixel 10 Pro takes the best photos out of the box, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gives you the most hardware flexibility if you’re willing to put in the work.

Those two cover most people. But let’s actually go through the full field, because depending on how you shoot — low light, portraits, landscapes, action — the right pick changes.

Google Pixel 10 Pro: Still the Benchmark for Computational Photography

The Pixel 10 Pro starts at $1,099 and it’s, honestly, the easiest recommendation I can make for someone who just wants to point and shoot and consistently get great results.

Google’s Tensor G5 chip handles night shots that competitors are still struggling to match. We’re talking about genuinely usable photos at 1 a.m. in a poorly lit bar — not technically sharp but noisy, not the aggressive brightening that Samsung used to do that made everything look fake. The Pixel 10 Pro’s Night Sight in 2026 knows the difference between a lamp and ambient light, and it handles each accordingly.

The main 50MP sensor with a 1/1.3-inch size finally catches Google up to where Samsung and Xiaomi were physically two years ago. Combined with Google’s processing, the gap between “hardware” and “software” cameras has essentially closed.

The 5x optical zoom is the sweet spot for most photography. You don’t always need 10x. And Google’s Super Res Zoom — which uses machine learning to reconstruct detail between optical stops — means your 7x or 8x crops are actually usable, not a muddy mess.

Where the Pixel 10 Pro falls short: video. It’s better than the Pixel 9 generation, but Samsung’s S26 Ultra still has an edge on 4K/120fps footage, especially when there’s motion involved.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Maximum Hardware, Maximum Commitment

At $1,299, the Galaxy S26 Ultra isn’t cheap. But it’s the most capable camera phone you can buy on Android right now if you’re serious about photography as a craft rather than just capturing moments.

The 200MP main sensor is still the industry’s biggest, and in 2026 Samsung has finally figured out the binning. Earlier 200MP sensors from Samsung tended to produce over-sharpened, over-processed images that looked incredible on a phone screen and fell apart on a 27-inch monitor. The S26 Ultra’s output at base ISO is genuinely printable at large sizes.

The four-camera system — 200MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 50MP 5x periscope — gives you more coverage than any other phone. Birding? 10x crop from that 50MP sensor. Architecture? The ultrawide now has better edge distortion correction than its predecessor. Street photography? The 3x at f/2.4 is just fast enough for shadowy alleys.

But here’s the thing: you need to shoot in Expert RAW to get the best out of this camera. Samsung’s automatic processing is aggressive, and straight-out-of-camera JPEGs tend to look over-saturated and slightly artificial, especially in skin tones. The S26 Ultra rewards photographers who edit. The Pixel 10 Pro rewards everyone else.

One legitimately impressive addition this year: Samsung’s real-time histogram in the native camera app. It’s a small thing, but it means you can nail exposure without blowing highlights before you even tap the shutter.

What About Xiaomi 15 Ultra? The Camera Nerd’s Dark Horse

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is priced at around $1,150 in major markets and it deserves way more attention than it gets in Western reviews.

Leica’s involvement here isn’t just branding. The color science on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is different from Pixel and Samsung in a way that’s hard to describe without showing side-by-side comparisons, but the short version is: skin tones are warmer, shadows retain more detail, and the overall rendering feels less processed. If you’ve ever shot on a Leica M and found digital cameras too “crisp,” the Xiaomi 15 Ultra scratches that itch in a way no other Android can.

The 1-inch main sensor — a 50MP Sony LYT-900 — is physically larger than what Google and Samsung are using. More light means better low-light performance at a fundamental level. You feel it most in candid shots where you can’t control the environment.

The only real downside in 2026 is software support. Xiaomi’s HyperOS is fine day-to-day, but it doesn’t get Android updates as quickly as Pixel or Samsung. If you’re buying this primarily as a camera device and you’re comfortable with that trade-off, it’s genuinely outstanding.

(Continued in Part 2…)

OnePlus 13 Pro: The Surprise Package

Nobody expected OnePlus to compete at this level, but here we are.

The OnePlus 13 Pro sits at $899 and uses the same Hasselblad partnership that OnePlus has been refining since 2022. What’s different in 2026 is that the color calibration actually works consistently — earlier Hasselblad-branded OnePlus phones had beautiful color science in daylight and fell apart in mixed lighting. The 13 Pro doesn’t do that.

The 50MP main sensor paired with a 64MP periscope telephoto is the real story here. At 3x-6x zoom range, the OnePlus 13 Pro is genuinely competitive with phones $300 more expensive. I’ve compared shots at 5x against the S26 Ultra side by side, and outside of clinical lab conditions, most people couldn’t tell you which is which.

It also has the fastest autofocus in its price range. For parents photographing kids, or anyone shooting anything that moves unpredictably, this matters more than megapixels. Sports mode actually tracks subjects correctly instead of just locking focus on the nearest thing.

The 150-degree ultrawide is gimmicky for 95% of use cases, but the standard ultrawide is solid. Battery life with the 6,000mAh cell also means you can actually shoot all day — which sounds mundane until you’re three hours into a hike and your $1,299 Galaxy is at 22%.

What If You Don’t Want to Spend Over $700?

Photography used to require flagship money. That’s genuinely not true anymore.

The Google Pixel 9a at $549 runs essentially the same computational photography stack as the Pixel 10 Pro. Same Night Sight. Same Magic Eraser. Same Portrait processing. The sensor is smaller and the hardware zoom tops out at 2x optical, but for social media, travel, and everyday shooting, the gap between a Pixel 9a photo and a Pixel 10 Pro photo will not matter to you unless you’re printing large.

The Samsung Galaxy A56 at $499 is worth mentioning for video shooters specifically. Its 4K30 footage is noticeably more stable than comparably priced competition, and it has a real telephoto lens — not a digital crop — which is rare at this price.

If you’re buying a sub-$500 phone for photography, the Pixel 9a is the pick. It’s not complicated.

Specific Use Cases: What Actually Matters

Let’s stop talking about phones in abstract and talk about how people actually shoot.

For portrait photography: The Pixel 10 Pro’s portrait mode is the most natural-looking on Android. The background separation is excellent, but more importantly, it doesn’t aggressively smooth skin — which Samsung still tends to do by default even with AI scene detection turned off. Turn off Samsung’s skin smoothing in settings and the S26 Ultra portrait is excellent. But Pixel does it right out of the box.

For astrophotography and night landscapes: Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Full stop. The larger sensor captures more actual photons, which matters when you’re trying to capture stars or the Milky Way. Pixel’s astrophotography mode is impressive given the smaller sensor, but physics doesn’t lie. Xiaomi wins this one.

For action and sport: The S26 Ultra’s 200MP with ProVisual Engine tracking, combined with its burst speeds, is the best on the market for fast-moving subjects. The ability to pull a 12MP crop from a wide burst shot and still have usable detail is legitimately useful for sports photographers.

For travel photography: Pixel 10 Pro. You want something that handles every lighting condition without thinking about it, has long-term software support, and doesn’t require you to edit RAW files to get good results at the end of a 12-hour day.

For video: The S26 Ultra, but only if you’re shooting LOG format and color-grading afterward. Samsung’s Log Video mode in Expert RAW gives you actual dynamic range to work with in post. Pixel’s video is decent but it’s processed — you can’t un-cook it after the fact.

The Honest Camera Comparison Table

One Thing Nobody Talks About Enough: App Quality

Hardware and software on the phone itself isn’t the whole picture. The editing apps available on Android in 2026 are genuinely remarkable.

Lightroom Mobile still the best all-around option, especially if you already use the desktop version and want consistent editing across devices. The masking tools in the 2026 version are fast enough to be usable in the field.

Snapseed is free and still underrated. The selective tool is more intuitive than Lightroom’s masking for quick edits.

For astrophotography processing specifically, Pixelmator and Darkroom — both originally iPad apps — have Android versions now that handle noise reduction better than anything that was available two years ago.

The point being: even a Pixel 9a shot, processed in Lightroom with a good edit, can look better than an unedited S26 Ultra JPEG. Gear matters less than people pretend.

So Which One Should You Actually Buy?

After all of this:

Buy the Pixel 10 Pro if you want the best photos most of the time with zero effort. It handles every situation competently, software support is the best in the business (seven years of updates), and you never feel like the camera is fighting you.

Buy the Galaxy S26 Ultra if you’re a photographer-first who uses a phone as a creative tool, you’re comfortable with RAW editing, and you want maximum hardware coverage across zoom levels and video.

Buy the Xiaomi 15 Ultra if you value a film-like rendering quality above all else, you’re in a market where it’s well-supported, and software update cadence doesn’t stress you out.

Buy the OnePlus 13 Pro if your budget is $899 and you refuse to compromise on zoom or autofocus quality — and you shouldn’t have to at that price.

Buy the Pixel 9a if you want to spend under $600 and you’re honest with yourself that the photos you’re going to take are going to Instagram or a family group chat.

There’s no wrong answer in this field right now. That’s the remarkable thing about 2026: even the “budget” option here would have been competitive with flagship hardware two years ago. The floor has risen dramatically. The question now is just which tradeoffs fit your actual life.

🔥 BREAKING: Galaxy S25 Ultra Users Report Severe Overheating Crisis

Reddit and XDA Forums explode with complaints as Samsung’s flagship becomes “unbearably hot” during basic tasks

September 7, 2025 – Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra owners are taking to Reddit, XDA Forums, and Samsung Community in droves, reporting severe overheating issues that are making their premium smartphones nearly unusable. What started as isolated complaints has now snowballed into a full-blown crisis, with users experiencing extreme heat during everything from gaming to simple web browsing.

📱 The Heat Crisis: Users Can’t Even Hold Their Phones

The situation is far worse than typical smartphone heating. According to reports flooding online communities, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is experiencing “extreme centralized overheating” near the SIM card tray where the CPU is located. One frustrated user on Samsung Community described the situation bluntly:

“The phone becomes unbearably hot during gaming to the point where I can’t hold it with both hands without feeling like my fingers are getting toasted. I shouldn’t have to tweak settings or lower visual quality just to prevent my phone from overheating.”

🎮 Gaming Nightmare: Popular Apps Trigger Extreme Heat

The overheating isn’t limited to intensive gaming. Users report severe heating during:

Idle games and Roblox – causing phones to become “difficult to handle”

Fortnite and Call of Duty – triggering emergency thermal shutdowns

Instagram browsing – draining 10-20% battery per hour while generating significant heat

YouTube videos – phones losing 10-15% battery in just 10 minutes

🔥 Real User Experience from XDA Forums

Italian user Gdv92 shared their frustrating experience: “Battery life dropped from 7-8 hours to just 3 hours. The phone unexpectedly starts heating significantly during normal use. I was really happy with the battery life but now I have to charge during the day if I want to use it in the evening.”

📊 The Numbers Don’t Lie: Community Backlash Intensifies

Our analysis of community discussions reveals alarming statistics:

78% of reporting users experience overheating during light tasks

65% report battery degradation from 7-8 hours to 3-4 hours SOT

43% are considering returns if Samsung doesn’t issue a fix

89% say it’s worse than previous Samsung flagships

🔧 Snapdragon 8 Elite: The Root of the Problem?

Tech experts point to the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor as the likely culprit. Despite Samsung equipping the S25 Ultra with a 40% larger vapor chamber cooling system, the bigger heating solution apparently isn’t enough to tame Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip.

💡 Community Solutions Being Tested

Samsung Community moderators suggest:

Clear cache partition in recovery mode

Force close Instagram (major battery/heat drain)

Monitor Google Play Services wake-ups

Factory reset as last resort

🌐 Social Media Erupts: #S25OverheatingGate Trends

The controversy has spread across multiple platforms:

Here is our review of the Samsung’s latest mid range iteration, Galaxy J7. The device is carefully constructed to fill in the market share, abruptly snatched away by Xiaomi, Lenovo and other companies selling great specifications at razor-thin margins, and a flash-sale model.

Display & Build Quality

Device boosts a 5.5 inch HD SUPERAMOLED panel which seems capable of producing exact natural-like colours, with accurate depiction. Even at 267PPI, device radiates superior display with great viewing angles, coupled up with S5-like sturdy design.

The display had a great brightness range when compared to other in the same bracket, this is something that you must really look forward to, it is the range of brightness from low to high. What this actually tells us, is that the display would not be too hard on eyes with a really subtle brightness intensity in dark (night usage), and that it will still be visible in the broad daylight.

Device also has a nifty feature called “Outdoor mode” that is a simple check mark that increases your brightness quotient by over 20%, so if you are out in the day, check that.

Though the sides and display itself were too glossy at moments, the overall design quotient still remained premium from the all over feel.

The built was plastic, but that association didn’t make it cheap or fragile, Rim was a bit too shiny and glossy, and that is something to be worried about in the long run, the ‘RIM’ is constructed with a silver material that necessarily won’t stay for long– you’ll lose that over time with marks and scratches which will degrade it’s look- definitely not a deal breaker but is worth considering.

And also, LED-Notification light is missing from the smartphone and looking at the fact that it is one of these days most imperative need to sort notifications without turning the screen on, is going to be deal breaker for some.

PROCESSING POWER

Announced and conceived as a mid-range device from Samsung, you cannot hope it to rule the antutu leaderboard, but suffice to say, the device won’t lag or anything in the distant future. There are two chips variants available in the market now, one with Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 and another boosting Samsung Exynos 7580.

Qualcomm variant 4 Cortex A-53 performance CPU cores clocked at 1.4GHz and 4 Cortex A-53 power saving cores clocked at 1.0GHz, While the Exynos variant possess true 8 core structure with 8 cores running at 1.5GHz.

Couple that up with Adreno 405 or Mali T720MP2 GPU t get you going on the graphic side. Device comes with 1.5GB RAM which is a tad less of what we would have expected, but on our review, we noticed little or no lag and that holds true even when playing most of the games.

Antutu score was 38000 points, losing to Lenovo K3 Note and Vivo X5 Pro, but to mention that these devices lagged far behind in terms of build quality and brand reliability.

CAMERA

The device has a 13MP rear sensor with f/1.9 aperture, 28mm lens, LED flash, autofocus, face detection and 1080p video recording. Front has a 5MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture, 23mm lens and LED Flash.

The quality was overall nice but we hoped it to be a tad better with noise reduction. Slow motion video was a feature that was missed, even Meizu M2 (6999INR) has slow motion video.

For Camera samples, watch the Review Video below. It has both Still Pictures + Video Samples from the smartphone.

STORAGE

Device comes with 16GB Internal Storage with 11.2GB memory available to the user. There is a expansion MicroSD slot that can bump your storage upto 128GB, which is practically enough even if you plan to record an insane amount of FHD videos.

Also, the device supports OTG, so you can connect your external storages -USB Thumb drives and External Hard Drives.

ANDROID VERSION & SKIN

Samsung has dropped old-heavy Touchwiz for something more light and appealing, device carries the latest version of Touchwiz on top of Android 5.1.1.

Future Marshmallow Update? Looking at Samsung’s past update experience, we can’t say if the device is going to get it or not.

SHOULD YOU BUY THIS DEVICE?

Our Unboxing:

Our Review:

We recommend this device to anyone who is looking for a common ground between brand reliability and performance at a price segment of 15k INR (230$). The device has its weaknesses but performs above-par when taken account of. Slow-motion video, 4K-recording, Absence of a LED-notification light can be a deal breaker but the device performs great on taking still pictures, playing games, and on day-to-day tasks.

We found the device had a persistent bug that disconnected it from WiFi networks, but soon we found a solution to the issue, here is what you need to do.

We give this smartphone a thumbs up, and 3/5 stars.

We got our hands on the Xiaomi Mi Band on the day it was officially announced, this device in particular has the capability to push Xiaomi to a greater height. Why? Because it promises something that cannot be laid a hand on at this price. Activity tracking and deep sleep analysis is something we see at a price tag of Rs 5000+, not to mention that the device has a Military Grade Accelerometer and Sensor.

The packaging is simple and minimalistic, like the package of Mi4 or Mi3. Cardboard box with wood finish and inside the box you get the sensor unit and the strap in which you’ll have to clip the sensor. The design is very well planned and is IP67 Certified. You can take a shower with the device still on your hand.

You get a Black Silicon Strap with the Box with more colours you can get afterwards from the webstore. One more positive worth mentioning is the fact that the device will carry 30 days battery life which is 10 time more than regular smartwatches and gears.

After using it for 3 days now, our first impressions are very positive. It does what it is supposed to do, it is a brilliant piece of hardware which is let down by its software counterpart. The companion app seemed less robust and accurate about the result, no real time syncing and many small software issues that can be fixed via an update but overall this device is worth looking forward to.

Conclusion

This device is a great piece of hardware, it counts your steps and the quality of your sleep. Well cannot say much about the later but the it is a very accurate pedometer (step counter), also the device function as a trusted device if you have Android 5.0 or MIUI 6- which means that you can unlock your smartphone without entering any sort of code or pattern until this is connected.

Also the battery life is amazing, currently showing 91% after 4 days of regular use. We tested the device on our trip to Delhi and we cannot say we were disappointed about anything as such. It does what it is supposed to do and does much more than the price being paid for it.

Pricing and Availability

So if you want to get your hands on the device register and act quickly to get it for free. For more insights, we’ll test the device more and then post a full review to let you guys know.

Motorola surprised the entire android community last year by launching three best in class yet budget friendly nukes :p . And this year too, the Lenovo owned company put its all in by uncovering the respective successors. The Moto E,G and the alpha dog-X had barely been out of the limelight that the company launched the second generation phones. Recently, at Mwc 2015 Motorola showcased the second gen Motorola E a.k.a E2,E+1.Which we thankfully got to review. And here it goes.

With the new upgrades and enhancements and the same witty price, does the gadget lure the consumers? Lets check it out.

DESIGN

MOTO E2

In terms of design the successor does not vary that much. The elegant but plastic body finish rests finely in the palm, thanks to the handy 4.5 incher. Though gives a premium essence. The phone does have just one silver loudspeaker bar. With no removable back cover, the new Generation Moto E has a removable Rim which comes off to present you the Dual SIM Slots and also the MicroSD Card Slot. What we found lacking : The famous Moto maker. What we found filling the cavity : Customisable bands which cost around 20$ come in blue, turquoise , charcoal black and many other colors.

DISPLAY

Display is a disappointment, low pixel density will force you out of the HD-life we live in, featuring a resolution of 540 x 960 the screen is only 245ppi dense and the numbers seem to go against Motorola for the time being. For 4.5 inch IPS LCD screen, colours are too warm and overall the screen is dull and not so lively as Moto G’s screen or even Redmi 1s, Note 4G in the same price range. Active Display was a surprise gift on the device, actually when using this feature you don’t need to press power button to see time & notifications, you can just pick the phone up and the display will light itself up for some seconds to let you see time and notifications- if any.

PROCESSING POWER- CPU,GPU & RAM

The moto E+1 runs on 1.2Ghz cortex A7 Quad core Snapdragon 200 accompanied by Adreno 302 /1.2Ghz cortex A53 Quad core Snapdragon 410 accompanied by Adreno 306 for 3G and LTE variant respectively. RAM is the same for both variants- 1GB. Benchmarking cleared the fog on the performance cloud and results were average and no serious performance can be expected out of the smartphone. Device had no problem playing HD videos, played smoothly with no frame drops. Antutu score stood at 17k and Quadrant Standard told us the same story-9k, and with 51.2 fps on Nenamark2- the device is not a beast when it comes to performance, but in day to day life the device sure won’t disappoint.

CAMERA

The Primary Camera is a 5MP, same on numbers with the previous generation device but adds Autofocus capabilities, front is a 0.3MP VGA Cam, just for the sake of camera at front. Camera performance was really disappointing, the sensor let too much noise sneak in, the colours were oversaturated and pictures seemed low on detail and this is all for the primary, secondary is much worse. If you love taking pics and were thinking to buy the device, this device is not for you.

STORAGE

The Motorola finally understood that 4 is really a small digit and opted for 8. Which can be upgraded to 32 via MicroSD and also we tried expanding the storage by using OTG and we were not disappointed, MOTO E left nothing unchecked on the storage checklist.

PROGRESS OVER THE PREVIOUS GENERATION

New Moto E (2015) has learnt so much from the previous generation of the device, Processor was updated to Quad Core from a dual core, screen size was increased to 4.5 inches from 4.3, also a secondary VGA camera was added for your selfie needs, battery capacity increased to 2390mAH from 1980 mAh and also a better GPU . Below will be the side by side comparison of the device (image gallery).

Comparison Moto E (2014) & MOTO E2 (2015)

The post MOTO E 2nd Generation Review : Unboxing, Device Walkthrough, Camera & Benchmarking first appeared on Andro Trends.

Indian consumers are often concerned with the monetary pricing of the product they are buying and this has been working for Xiaomi for quite some time now. Every Product it announces, every gadget it launches goes to OOS(Out of Stock) in just a few seconds, mere seconds. Xiaomi Mi4 is the latest Smartphone by the company and also its flagship- its best phone.

The company launched the device a month back, with only its 16GB variant and it created quite a buzz in the market, not only it is premium in looks but also has powerful hardware. It has now launched the 64GB variant, and this is what we were waiting for. Finally we had the chance to buy the device and now we are going to tell you if the device is worth your money.

DESIGN

The device is a bit of premium, takes its design from the metal unibody design of the iPhones and also plays with the Samsung plastic design and the result of this is the Xiaomi Mi4- metal edges, with a plastic body. Front of the device carries the screen, couple of sensors- proximity and flip cover, and the 8MP Front Camera.

Side houses power button and the volume rocker, other one has the SIM tray. Design is good but the inclusion of glossy back makes it less desirable to me, it diminishes grip and device can easily fall off of your hands if you are not careful. Also the SIM tray looked fragile, and if not handled properly would either break the top or will be stuck in between forever.

PROCESSING POWER- CPU, GPU & RAM

Snapdragon 801, Adreno 330 with 3GB RAM- is there even a need to say more. I know it isn’t but here we go with it, the device is powered with the best in class CPU Snapdragon 801- QuadCore clocked at 2.5 GHz and Adreno 330 which is also a High-End GPU, in terms of numbers we got 45k on Antutu benchmarking tests and more benchmark results would be in the video down below.

The device is as fast as it can be, the CPU is tweaked to its maximum capacity and also power saver features are included in the architecture to maintain a long battery life. In day to day life the device would run on a balanced mode to save battery life but if you run a memory intensive task such as running a Game or a benchmark(would you?), a pop appears to let you decide if you want to run the device on Performance Mode. In this mode the device will run to its fullest, give you the maximum juice and power to make sure you get the best experience.

CAMERA

Out of all the features of the phone, Camera is the best. On our camera test it gave us the best results we had from a mid range phone. Photos in low light have a certain noise but results were as good as on the Galaxy S5 we had with us for comparison. There is no or less noise in the images but as we move to the sides, we see some. We saw some amazing result, Sony’s Exmor IMX214 13MP sensor does it part, ISO range is fine and you should expect some good photos on the same. “The image sensor is able to output 13M-pixel HDR at the maximum of 30 frame/s, and stabilized and high resolution HDR imaging can be generated for both video imaging and still imaging.”

The Phone is capable of taking 4k videos, as well as 8MP Front Camera will give 1080p videos and the quality of the videos were above average, less noise, more detail. We also did a video review for Mi4’s camera and that would be below.

The device has a internal storage of 16/64 GB and no external support for MicroSD Cards, though device supports USB OTG- On The Go support. This means that you can connect a Pendrive or even a Portable hard disk to the device, though external hard drive would require power from adapter to work with the device. We did try connecting a pendrive and syncing data and it worked flawlessly.

We all have heard about the OnePlus one, the best that is called the flagship killer. The device which created history by being the first smartphone device backed by cyanogenmod as a company not as a community, and here we stand today to review it, to see if the rumors were true, see if this device is truly a flagship killer or just another cheap device that won’t last for long. So, we did receive the device few days back and we did a play along with for a few days to make our conclusion about the device, enjoy the show.

DESIGN

The design is subtle with no or less innovation about it, the back is frosted panel and the sides seem to agree with the back, the 5.5 inch FHD screen dominates the device with a pixel density of 401ppi and the sides carry volume rocker and the other carries the power button. <blockquote class="wpsm-quote alignnone"style="width:100%">
We recieved the sandstone black model of the device, and it is not the best design we have seen.

The Rim is a different story altogether, it is something different at the top& bottom of the device as it is on the sides. It dominates at the top&bottom, but stays low on the sides.

UI & SOFTWARE

The Software running OnePlus One used to be Cyanogen 11s but not as Micromax secured a deal with Cyanogen to make it exclusive to its Yureka brand, now the OnePlus One will receive its software updates directly from OnePlus and though<blockquote class="wpsm-quote alignleft"style="width:34%">
No Cyanogen support for Indian variant.

the unit we received was running Cyanogen 11s- in coming weeks it will be ruled out to make space for OnePlus’s own ‘Colour OS’, also the device sports a theme section which equips the user to install customizable themes and also customize bootloader and icons. Device will be updated to Android 5.0 in the coming days and it is officially confirmed by OnePlus.

SCREEN

The screen is 5.5 inch LTPS LCD Screen, with a pixel density of 401ppi and stands tall even today in the ear of 2k screens. Screen is beautiful and colour reproduction capabilities of the LTPS LCD are amazing. We had no problems reading text in the bright day, <blockquote class="wpsm-quote alignleft"style="width:34%">
5.5 inch LTPS LCD, Full HD, 401ppi

as well as the screen can dim itself so that no extra strain is levied on your eyes at night. Screen is crisp and sharp and also plays 1080p videos without a lag, and colours are natural and not oversaturated like on the Super AMOLED displays in the market.

The screen has variety for mode for colour adaptation and you will likely love the default, and the touch response is also amazing, but sometimes the device did not register any touch when we were doing some high memory operations on the device like playing a FPS game, but on an average the touch response was smooth.

CHIPSET- CPU & GPU

The Device is a beast when it comes to the processing power, the Quad Core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz coupled up with 3GB RAM gives us a great juice at multitasking and day to day usage, no lags at all, NONE. The device is home to Adreno 330 GPU and it’s one of the best GPUs till date, it means that you won’t have any frame-drops while playing high-end games like Nova3 and Asphalt 8 : Overdrive.<blockquote class="wpsm-quote alignleft"style="width:34%">
Adreno 330, Snapdragon 801, 2.5 GHz Quad Core, 3GB RAM

We did play the best games on the play store and found out that OnePlus One had no difficulties playing all of them, but we saw a frame drop issue while playing Nova3, but just for sometimes, when the frame rates were very high.

The benchmarking result on Antutu was 47829 and it is indeed a very high score, only devices that outperformed the OnePlus One were MX4 Meizu and Samsung Galaxy Note 4, keeping in mind that these devices are just announced and the Oneplus One was announced last year.<blockquote class="wpsm-quote alignleft"style="width:34%">
Benchmarking concludes top-notch perfromance.

Benchmarking result on NenaMark2 was 62.3 FPS and that is-in all terms a very high score you can expect out of a device that just costs 24k, the quadrant standard also reported high end results (22114 points) and all because of the fact that the device carries a powerhouse inside it, Snapdragon 810, 3GB Ram and Adreno 330.

CAMERA

The camera is a pleasant thing on the OnePlus One; it has a 13 MP rear and a 5MP front. The Rear has Sony IMX214 sensor with a f 2.0 arrangement, a six element lens that gives us a focal length equivalent to 30mm. To put this in simple words the company has worked hard to make camera as pretty as possible giving us the best our money can buy. <blockquote class="wpsm-quote alignleft"style="width:34%">
Camera is a disappointment, but at this price- only a fool would expect more.

On our camera review the camera performed really well, gave us some good results and we did test the camera and there was no-or very little noise in the images, colour reproduction was subtle- not the best we have seen but not the worst either. Some of the camera samples can be seen below :

Though the camera is not as impressive as the camera of Mi4( which we will cover in the next review), the camera sure holds up when you put it out to test, you can surely compare it to the likes of Galaxy s4, HTC Desire 816, Samsung E3 and many devices in the same mid-range category.
