Reports by many Technology websites suggest that Qualcomm will be using Samsung’s chip manufacturing plant due to its 14-manometer wiring manufacturing process, Qualcomm will be dropping Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation TSMC for its new flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 820.
This is because the 14 nanometer wiring process reduces the size and as well decreases the battery consumption by the chipset, many still believe that it is another move by Qualcomm to strengthen its relationship with Samsung after Samsung dropped its previous generation Snapdragon 810 in favor of its own in-house Exynos offering. Due to this decision, Qualcomm had to bear loss of a financial quarter and now it is trying to call it evens with its biggest customer-Sammy.
Samsung did the critical task for the same reason that Qualcomm is favoring Samsung for- its 14nm chipsets. Tech giants believe that these are better and that is why Apple is reportedly joining Samsung for the manufacturing of its new generation A9 Processor.
With Snapdragon 820 being forged right in its backyard, Samsung will have a tough time responding Qualcomm for its use in Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy Note 5 or maybe both. Samsung has a win-win situation, all the devices and the chipset made right at your house is comforting. It’s still unclear if Samsung will put a hold on its in house offering when it is working so well in the international market.
