Changes in the process of MNP are proposed by the Regulatory Authority

TRAI the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has issued special directives to Telecom operators for MNP procedure. TRAI has now changed the procedure by including one more document that will be needed at the time of porting your number to another operator- and that will be the document of undertaking. This will serves as verification of ownership of the mobile number that is requested to be transferred to another operator.

TRAI has also announced that if in any case the document of undertaking is proved to be false, the mobile number will be disconnected from all telecommunication services with no delay.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under section 13, read with sub-clauses (i), (iii) and (v) of clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 11, of TRAI Act, 1997 and regulation 7 and 18 of the regulations, the Authority hereby directs the holders of Cellular Mobile Telephone Service Licenses, Unified Access Service License, Unified Licenses (Access Service) and Unified licenses having authorization to provide access service to incorporate in their porting request form an undertaking, to be obtained from the subscriber seeking porting of his mobile number declaring that he is the owner of the said mobile number and in case the undertaking is found to be false, the said mobile number shall be disconnected and furnish the compliance report within twenty one days from the date of issue of this direction.
