Instagram Now Supports Pictures and Videos in Portrait, Goodbye to Cropping

Instagram, the widely popular photosharing App has now officially updated it’s Application to take in Portrait and landscape oriented pictures and not just square. With 300 million active users, the App is one of the most engaging social media application after Facebook and Twitter and after Facebook buyout, the application has gone through many changes and this seems to be the most significant one.

The company said on it’s Instagram handle :

Today, we’re excited to announce that — in addition to square posts — you can now share photos and videos in both portrait and landscape orientation on Instagram. Square format has been and always will be part of who we are. That said, the visual story you’re trying to tell should always come first, and we want to make it simple and fun for you to share moments just the way you want to. When choosing a photo or video, you can now tap the format icon to adjust the orientation to portrait or landscape instead of square. The full-sized version will show up in feed in a beautiful, natural way. To not disrupt your profile grid, your post will appear there as a center-cropped square. We’re especially excited about what this update means for video on Instagram. All filters will now work on both photos and videos, and you can now adjust the intensity of filters on videos, too. Instagram for iOS version 7.5 is available today in Apple’s App Store, and Instagram for Android version 7.5 is available today on Google Play.

How it works?

Video response will be tuned to the conversation box where messages beautifully hovering it will further enchant the design. What remains to be seen is that if this has the power and the drive to replace the market leader, WhatsApp which was valued at $19 billion when acquired by Facebook. Meet Tailor : Panoramic Screenshot Maker that we need on Android

Android is a big thing right? Abundance of Third-Party Apps is one of the biggest selling points of this abruptly big ecosystem but there are still some apps that we don’t find on Android, mostly apps that have a little less utility, but hey, a little less does not means “no use at all”.

We are here today for an intuitive and creative app called Tailor, which takes screenshots very seriously, like way too much seriously. Functionality of creating screenshot panorama of something way too long to be in a single frame is surprisingly great, and it works great, quite better than you suppose it would.

So what’s the big deal here?

There are times when we want this kind of app, like when we need to screenshot a chat, or when we want to screenshot a lot of comments on a Instagram picture or on many situations when a single frame isn’t worthy enough.

How to completely disable Google Photos

Reports have come that the Popular Photos App will continue to upload your photos even after the App is Uninstalled, some users as well as bloggers reported that even after uninstalling the application from their smartphone, they saw their latest photos on google servers, backed up.

What is the Cause?

Photos App is not just an Android App but its roots can be found in Google Play Services which is also the service used by the former to upload and download photos from google servers. To be more precise, think of Photos App just as a Front-end app for the main application Google Play Services, which does the real work – Uploading the pictures.

Photos App does the Photo Processing by its intelligent 10-layer algorithm that breaks down pictures to understand them better, and gives you better filtering options by the process.

What you can do to stop this?

Now that we know who does the Upload thing, head on to Google Play Services, Go to Google Photos backup, Click on the switch, Turn it Off and you are good to go.

How to Enable it again?

Install the Photos App, Ofcourse you need it for better management of your photos, and it will itself ask you to enable Photo backup. Just enable that, Select the upload quality/resolution and you are good to go.

Quickbar is Action Launchers modification to the google search bar widget that we rarely use, to change it to something more productive by adding shortcuts to Apps or adding specific tasks to the bar.

The Launcher is updated to v3.5 and now promises smoother performance and increased productivity with Quickbar.

You can add shortcuts easily to the Quickbar or use already setup presets that range from audio, social to productivity or any app or widget you like (size of the widget should be icon like).

Yahoo Aviate Updates Spaces to Google Now like Sidebar

One of the most talked-about launchers on the Google Play Store, the Yahoo Aviate is now updating a part of their interface that will help them serve you better content and make your experience better. The Update will change the Interface that we experience that we get by swiping left, “Spaces”. Spaces is now updated to look exactly like Google Now Cards and when you see it you’ll feel the resemblance I am talking about.

I Love Aviate, and so it is my default launcher too not because of the design but of the adaptability and the capabilities of the launcher to cater you the exact information and applications you want at the right time. Aviate has been working on giving a tailored experience and so far it has worked in favour and now the Redefined spaces is here to take that to the next level.

Update also changes the search box design and now when you click the Dot Overflow next to the search box you’ll get a new reception, a screen with different themes will pop up for Today, Places, Entertainment, Widgets and clicking one of them will present you with news and information for that category.

Google’s New Photos App Spotted Prior to Google I/O Announcement

From the past couple of days we have been hearing about Google I/O and Google’s plan to announce a standalone Photo app, the App which was previously an integrated module in the Google+ App was reported to be a standalone app with Syncing and Sharing capabilities.

Now, Android Police has reported that the App will be more advance and sophisticated that we would have speculated, the app would give the users advance filtering and tagging facilities that will eventually turn out to be an added feature.

The App will be projected as a One Stop Picture Management destination that will provide management, cloud storage, image organization, enhanced search support with basic image editing and more.

The Blog also mentioned that the app will also be getting an upgraded feature as assistant that will further help the users to help organize, create photo collages, slideshow movies and more.

We are absolutely delighted by the fact that Photos App would be a standalone app in the coming of days, everyone backs up their photos to make sure that they don’t lose precious memories and what’s more reliable to back them up at Google. Google+ is not widely used app and tying up with Photos did not seemed a good idea. Well done Google!

We expect the App to be unveiled at Google I/O Keynote at 28 May i.e Tomorrow.

Instagram Introduces Structure and Layout : A Standalone Collage Maker App

Instagram undoubtedly the best Photo Sharing app in the world has launched another companion app for Instagram called Layout. This app was available on iOS from quite some time but now is available on the Google Play Store.

App is an intuitive collage maker that lets user combine multiple pictures in one. The company issued a statement saying that every one in five users regularly posted collages and this app will reduce the need of any other third-party app for Instagram collaging.

This App has a different approach though, while various third party apps will let you decide layout and then add pictures in the frame, this app lets you select the pictures and then shows you different layouts for collage.

When we downloaded the app and started the basic operation we found out that the app did no other magic then simply helping you to create a collage- no editing or anything of that sort. Though it gave us some handful features such as Mirror, Flip and Replace.

If you already have one collage maker, don’t uninstall it already

Also Instagram announced that the official Instagram app will now include Structure – that will help user to bring out more details from Background and Texture. To get the feature, the user just needs to update the app.
