All Hail Micromax: Biggest Smartphone Vendor in India

Despite the efforts of Xiaomi and Motorola to grab the market share of Micromax, the latter has emerged as the biggest smartphone vendor in india defeating the biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world, Samsung. Canalysis, the company behind the survey posted a graph, informating the sale of smartphones in india, and through the same this news followed.

Q4 & Q3 Sales in the Indian Market

Micromax despite its problems with the Consumer feedback attained this position with the simple principle of providing the best technology at the least cost, from the last 5 years Micromax has worked really hard towards being and reaching to be the biggest vendor in the country.
Looking at the Graph you can pretty easily understand that the indian market is still very diverse as the biggest constituents of sales are being done by Others in the market. These Others include many big time players such as Sony, LG and many else but the biggest part of this Other distribution seems to be the market for smaller and less know companies.

Reuters, the biggest and the most reliable source of information on the internet, quoted this on the subject matter :

In a report issued on Feb. 3, Canalys said Micromax, based near New Delhi, accounted for 22 percent of smartphone sales in India in the October-December quarter, ahead of Samsung’s 20 percent. In total, 21.6 million smartphones were sold in India in the period, a 90 percent surge from a year earlier.

All we can comment on this topic is irrational until more research institutions can comment on the reality of these figures, and until that it is safe to assume that yeah micromax has been doing some serious harm to the business of Samsung over the past couple of years, samsung will also reportedly comment on the news. We’ll just have to wait for that.
