Intex Smartwatch launched just a day back and now here we are here trying to figure what its true purpose is or what it’s major utility is. Many of you guys would be thinking what writeup is about, just bear with me for sometime and you’ll know.

Intex iRist specifications

1.56-inch (240 x 240 pixels) OLED display with Sapphire glass protection

1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 SoC

512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory (1.3GB user memory), expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD

5MP camera with 720p video recording

Make and Receive calls, SMS

Dust and water resistant (IP65)

Dimensions: 44x44x14mm; Weight: 83g

3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, 4.0, GPS/ A-GPS

600mAh battery with up to 240 minutes talk time and up to 200h standby

What Intex gave us yesterday was not a smartwatch but a smartphone with a miniature display on our wrist, what I cannot understand and comprehend is the need for a smartwatch to have a dual-sim slot? Smartwatches like Moto 360, LG G watch, LG R Watch run on Android Wear which is backed up by Google and Intex iRist on the other hand is running a custom-built of Android 4.4, which is meant to be running on Android smartphones and not smartwatches.

No Android Wear Support

While every other smartwatch is an Android Wear running smartwatch, this smartwatch runs on a modified Android 4.4 Kitkat base. Android Wear is managed and controlled by Google, which takes responsibility of pushing out latest wear updates, but in the case of iRist you won’t be getting an update.

Coming back to the inclusion of a SIM-slot, yes the smartwatch is officially confirmed to feature a Dual-SIM slot which can take one 3G SIM and another 2G SIM at the same time. Call can be answered through a Bluetooth headset. Same kind of rage was experienced when people started using their 7inch tablets to answer calls and now the age of answering calls through a smartwatch has come? Probably not!

and at 12,999 you can get a Moto 360 which is compatible with Android Wear and receives timely updates from Motorola.

The post Why Intex iRist smartwatch is not a smartwatch at all? first appeared on Andro Trends.

One of the coolest smartwatches available in the world right now, the LG Watch Urbane is now available in India through Amazon.in. The smartwatch is now on sale at RS 29,990 making it the most expensive smartwatch in the country.

The watch runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with 512 MB RAM, display is quite crisp at 1.3 Inch P-OLED 320x320p, heart rate sensor and couple of other sensors. The watch looks pretty amazing customizable watch faces and other Android Wear features.

The smartwatch is also dust and water-resistant.

Currently the Smartwatch is only listed on Amazon.in and through some of their promotional social media and in-site posts we think that it might be exclusive to Amazon.in to sell. Although there is no official announcement yet, we might get a clearer view after that happens.

Pricing is a downfall though, with priced in other countries at much less than what it is listed on Amazon- the company will find one to many sales problems. Smartwatches, in India are considered luxury and not necessities and of course Tech-Savvy people will always find a way to buy it- but at Rs 29,990 it is going to be hard for the company to make it a blockbuster.

Buy Now

Were you looking forward for buying a Fitness Tracker? You must be trying to get your hands on the Mi Band, but wait you after this post you’ll be happy to reconsider the product that you’ll be getting. To start you off – Yu Televenturers the company owned and marketed by Micromax launched three gadgets today, YU Yuphoria, YUfit and HealthYU.

We all knew about Yuphoria, in case you don’t head on here.
